Spartan citizens, men or women, are the pioneers of two very important philosophies:
1) The ultimate faith in the human body as a symbol of the most beautiful creation by God.
2) Human freedom. Of course, those ideas arose much earlier in time. However, they gained a bigger momentum during the Ancient Spartans. As a small nation in their region, the Spartan’s were always under attack by bigger nations. Hence, they took serious measures to shape and mold their youth from a very early age to live a free and beautiful life – one that they believed was their birthright. These fundamentals have motivated Artist Hovik Kochinian to create a series of artworks with his unique style dedicated to visibly depicting these great philosophies originated by the Ancient Spartans. The first composition is called “Ready Spartan Beauty.” The painting was created in Paris France Cité internationale des arts 2006.
